Welcome to the Official Page of the Western Australian School of Mines (WASM) Wallabies.
The WASM (Western Australia School of Mines) Wallabies are a student group, located at Curtin University Bentley, who compete in both the National and International Collegiate Mining Competitions.
The WASM Wallabies proudly achieved runner-up in the Co-Ed division for the National Mining Games hosted by the UWA Wedgetails in 2022, and both Mens and Co-Ed teams placed 2nd at the Kalgoorlie Export Cup. Looking forward, the WASM Wallabies are aiming high in both divisions at the March 2023 International Mining Games hosted in Kalgoorlie.
The WASM Wallabies were founded in 2006, setting a rival against the WASM Wombats located at the WA School of Mines in Kalgoorlie. After having competed for 1 year, the Wallabies placed 3rd in the Mens Division during the 2007 International Collegiate Mining Competition (ICMC) in Arizona. The Wallabies continue to breathe success in the ICMC to date with multiple 1st place results over the years, showcasing their great sportsmanship, teamwork, and mate-ship.
The International Collegiate Mining Competition was founded in 1978, to honour and remember the men; as well as the friends and family of these men, that tragically passed in one of the United States’ worst hard rock mining disasters ever, at Sunshine Mine, Idaho, USA. More information about the ICMC is located under the About tab.
